A Surprising Fact About CBD and Coconut Oil

That’s right! It’s not spoiled, so don’t be alarmed!

CBD mixed with coconut (or MCT) oil can develop a pink hue when heated, and that’s perfectly normal and safe.

Here’s what’s behind the change:
1. Polyphenol oxidase enzyme in coconut/MCT oil reacts with light, heat, and oxygen.
2. This enzyme causes oxidation of natural polyphenols (similar to an apple browning), resulting in the oil turning pink to purplish.
3. It’s a sign of high-quality, minimally refined oil—not spoilage. Low-grade oils often don’t change color.
4. The color shift doesn’t reduce the efficacy or safety of the CBD product

So don’t be worried if your pet tinctures get warm and turn pink! It’s actually a sign that they’re VERY GOOD!
